Solar FAQ
1. Will solar work for me?
Call us today for a phone or home visit consultation. To begin, we will use a combination of software to analyze the amount of available sunlight along with a site survey to determine if solar will work for you. Every system is custom designed to the customer's usage requirements and unique site conditions. We will review your current utility bill to get an idea of how much you've used the past 12 months to determine the size of the system. Our approach allows us to provide system pricing during our visit.
2. Why go solar?
There are many benefits to becoming a solar owner, here are a few to consider:
SAVE MONEY: Save money on your utility bills now and in the future. The systems' life expectancy is more than 25 years. Your return on investment is typically 7-10 years and free power thereafter for more than 15 years.
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY: Clean energy is the future. Unlike fossil fuels solar reduces the carbon foot print and creates no pollution while generating power. A typical residential solar array system will eliminate three to four tons of carbon emissions each year - the equivalent of planting over 100 trees annually.
ENERGY INDEPENDENCE: Have control of how your electricity is produced. Reduce your dependence on petroleum and sources of energy coming from outside the US. Make your own power from nature's resources at your home or business.
READY FOR THE FUTURE: Energy Storage, electric heating and cooling, and Electric vehicles are 100% in our future. Our systems are all designed to be accommodating to future upgrades. Our equipment is ready to take your home or business into the future of energy!

4. How much does a solar array system cost?
There is not a standard price per watt cost as every system is custom designed to the customer's usage requirements and unique site conditions. With a free 45 minute on-site consultation we provide a comprehensive project proposal. We file grant forms on your behalf to minimize the overall cost of your system and guide you through the available tax credits. At QwikSolar, we offer low interest financing to avoid out of pocket costs. We can typically replace your existing electric utility bill with a solar project payment. It is common that this payment is lower than your average utility bills. It also gives you a predictable monthly energy cost, protecting you from the utility company rate increases (typically 6% per year!).
5. Do I get paid for the extra energy that is produced?
No, the unused energy is banked as Kilowatt Hour credits to be used later that night, months, or even years from now. This is called Net Metering. Please see picture below of an example of a utility bill. Our on site consultation is important to ensure we are not over or under sizing your system.
6. is there any maintenance for my solar array system?
Like any mechanical or electrical equipment, proper maintenance is important. We provide simple and effective semi annual maintenance, as well as online monitoring to be sure that your system is always top notch! Occasionally the snow might cover the panels but the panels will generate enough heat for the snow to slide right off.
